A customer from Turkey contacted Volsun while sourcing 40×140mm cold shrink tubing for outdoor cable sealing applications. During the discussion, the customer explained that the standard cold shrink tube could not fully meet the installation requirements of their local market.

Instead of a regular design, they requested a customized version with a pre-installed inner silicone tube at one end of cold shrink tube. This special structure is becoming increasingly popular in Turkey because it provides stronger sealing performance while making field installation more convenient.

The Challenge

Outdoor cable connections are constantly exposed to rain, moisture, dust, and changing weather conditions. Although conventional cold shrink tubing already offers excellent insulation and waterproof performance, the customer wanted an extra sealing layer to further improve long-term reliability.

The custom design required a pre-installed silicone tube at one end of the cold shrink tubing, followed by the standard cold shrink tubing production process. This was achieved while maintaining the same shrinkage performance, dimensional accuracy, and production efficiency as the standard product.
